Resistensi Komunitas Queer dalam Marginalisasi Temporal: Mengartikulasikan Masa Depan Queer yang Emansipatoris melalui Harapan dan Kepedulian kolektif

Abstract

The queer community remains among the groups that continue to experience multiple forms of marginalization in society. One of these is temporal marginalization, a condition in which discrimination across different spheres of life prevents queer individuals from living according to the socially constructed “ideal” life timeline. Excluded from this normative temporal framework, queer communities are rendered marginal and come to perceive and navigate time and life differently. This paper examines Jack Halberstam’s concept of queer temporality to articulate experiences of time that unfold outside normative temporal regimes, particularly as they are lived by queer communities. Through conceptual analysis based on literature review and secondary research, the study traces how heteronormativity and capitalist values structure mechanisms of temporal marginalization in queer life, with a specific focus on the Indonesian context. In response to this oppression, the paper foregrounds the political significance of hope and collective care in shaping future-oriented queer resistance. It argues that queer temporality, while emerging because of discrimination, also holds subversive potential to ignite forms of resistance grounded in hope and collective care, oriented toward the realization of a more radical and emancipatory queer future.
